Funding Will Support Financial Literacy, Economic Empowerment and
Workforce Development Efforts Across the Mid-Atlantic Region

LANCASTER, PA (June 15, 2022) --The Fulton Forward® Foundation, an independent, non-profit private foundation funded by Fulton Bank, today announced a $125,000 commitment to the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) – a global educational nonprofit focused on bringing the power of entrepreneurship to youth in low-income communities.

The funds, which will be provided to the organization over a four-year period, will be used to support NFTE’s Aspiring Entrepreneurs Program, which provides students from under-resourced communities throughout the Mid-Atlantic (PA, NY, NJ and VA) region with access to the courses of NFTE’s Entrepreneurship Pathway and several key activities and components of the NFTE student experience.

“NFTE is proud to work alongside like-minded partner organizations such as Fulton Bank to provide equitable access to entrepreneurship training for young people,” said NFTE CEO Dr. J.D. LaRock. “Our aim is to activate the entrepreneurial mindset in young innovators through programs that combine project-based learning and business plan development with volunteer engagement and social responsibility. Through the Aspiring Entrepreneurs Program, students will learn how to develop an original business plan for companies that can be launched in their own community.”

Fulton’s grant and partnership with NFTE were announced at the Mid-Atlantic: Philadelphia Metro Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge on June 9 in Philadelphia where student finalists pitched their businesses to a panel of judges. Fulton Bank President and COO Curtis Myers served as a VIP Finals judge and presenter at the event, which was co-sponsored by Fulton Bank.

“This is a great opportunity for Fulton to continue its mission of elevating communities through Fulton Forward and empower the next wave of entrepreneurs,” said Myers. “We look forward to growing our partnership with NFTE and leveraging Fulton’s resources as we join forces to help create the next generation of diverse entrepreneurs and job creators.”

“The Aspiring Entrepreneurs Program thrives on the support and engagement of local volunteers, advisors and supporters like Fulton,” said Peter Johnson, Development Director for NFTE in the Mid-Atlantic region. “Fulton’s mission is a perfect complement to the work we do at NFTE, and we look forward to actively involving Fulton employees with our schools and students as we grow and expand this impactful program.”
